SETUP

Offline Diary 7 day backup
Please could you check your Internet Explorer setup is as per the Setup document downloadable from the bottom of this page – you may need help from your IT department if PC's are “locked down” and not enabled to allow file downloads from the Internet.

By clicking on this link in our left hand management menu you can install our “Offline Diary” on to any local PC from which you may be accessing your reservation diary. This will create a desktop icon for the Offline Diary and, provided you have saved your XML backup reports to your local hard drive (and can find the directory!), you will be able to run the “Offline Diary” from the icon installed on your desk top and see availability instantly in the case of loss of your Internet connection. Browse to the appropriate directory on your hard drive, choose the latest backup .XML file and you are able to see forward bookings by selecting the date required and clicking "Go to Date" or "Go to Today".

To enable the download of XML backups please ensure you have XML downloads enabled by your administrator in “Alter Restaurant Details / Other Details” – we recommend saving 7 days in advance every 90 minutes.  Once this is enabled, you will see a "pop up" every 90 minutes asking if you wish to save the backup file.  The first time you save the backup you select an appropriate directory on your PC and, thereafter, the system will save the next backup to that same directory.  Backups for the same day will over write previous same day backups and a different backup is created for each new day.  Some housekeeping will be required eventually to simply delete old backup files.

Please ensure your computer has Internet Explorer settings for trusted sites set as documented in the user guide at “First Things First” – in particular in Tools / Internet Options / Security / Trusted Sites / Custom Level you must enable automatic prompting for files downloads and enable downloads.  It is important to note that if that is not enabled you will getting a yellow horizontal bar message from Microsoft across the page in Internet Explorer asking if wish to download the file but even if this is accepted the files are not downloaded - you must enable this feature in Security, as above.

Offline diary backup files are in the format of booking_report_*.xml.
Html "booking report" files are in the format of booking_report_*.html
